Going to Nationals?

If your planning on going to Nationals this year and your banking on the wild card spot in your group...DON'T. This year the USASA is cutting down the field to a more managable number of competitors. 2000 people is an awful lot of runs, tallies, judging, and the list goes on. What the judges at RB have seen in recent years is riders "going through the motions" at the end of the year comps and coming up way, way short at Nationals. Those of you wanting to really put in the effort at a venue that is nationaly recognized for up and coming talent should be throwning it all out there at the Week 4 comp. Tricks you've been working on all season should be dialed in for this comp and polished up after. What we are telling you is that if you want it bad enough then you better go after it in your own back yard first, and then you will be able to show the rest of the USASA why your the best from the South Central Series. Be safe with your progression but push yourself to be better. Most importantly have fun!

So I want everyone to watch the weather for the coming weekend and dress accordingly. Remember you won't be riding as much as you will be waiting. And if there's any complaints think about the judges and spectators, who arn't riding at all. In other news WEEK 1- 1/2PIPE & BX reschedule! This will happen the same weekend as Illnois State Championships Feb 17 - 18. The shedule for this event is the same as a USASA weekend and the make -up day will be Sunday the 18th. Those of you who already signed up will be expected to make the registration/check-in time. And anyone interested in signing up for the make-up date will be allowed to do so. Scoring and placements will be explained at the riders meeting Sunday 10:30AM. Any questions or concerns please reply to this forum and dress warm people, there's gonna be ton of snow after this week!

I would like to thank Matt B and Kieth for scrapping together enough snow for the first comp. Even though we had to cancel 1/2pipe and BX the slopestyle coarse was good for what was there. Please, you locals! Thank both of them, in person, when you get the chance for what you have. There has been an a lot warm weather and hand grooming. This meens mulling around in the mud trying to figure out how to stay open and keep it jibby. Pray for snow... yeah pray for cold!

Get it together!

The comp season is fast approaching and I'm looking forward to it. There are a few things for everyone to remember this year while competing. First, we will not be handing out sponserships, it's not American Idol. Second, the schedule is posted and has remained the same for 5 years if you think you'll be late plan for it! Old schoolers like me used to have to get to Tyrol by 8AM for registration. Third, if you have not registered as a USASA member you can still do so on line at www.USASA.org. Last thing, and most importantly, be sure to bring your fun. It's snowboarding people that's why we do it... simple, unfiltered, pure fun. C-ya next week!
