Shred Circuit
DECEMBER 29th, 2011
The So-Gnar Shred Circuit Contest Series is kicking off this year. At 12 of the 15 tour stops we are having a snowboard contest series unlike any other. There will be 12 finalists that get a free trip to Winter Park on April 7th. 12 AM’s and 12 hand selected invited Pro’s will be competing against each other. Michal Menert will be performing at the finals too. This is going to be off the hook. Check out the Shred Circuit Contest series stops and sign up its $20 and includes anFirehouse Beanie.
The Shred Circuit is a 12-stop amateur creative contest series. NEW for the 2011-2012 season, the tour will be stopping through a shred hill near you. Each stop is 1-day contest in conjunction with SO-GNAR’s Mighty Midwest Snowboard Camp Tour.
“The Shred Circuit is all about having 100% fun while snowboarding” says founder and professional snowboarder Pat Milbery. “We have been hosting community based snowboard camps for the past 5 years at resorts all over the country and we have noticed the absence of creative, good energy through large groups of kids snowboarding together” Milbery says, “The Shred Circuit is a great outlet for the next generation of snowboarder’s to expand the creative limits of snowboarding with their friends and receive national exposure!”
The contest features will include traveling jib features, presented by the Tour Sponsors that will be set-up to cater to all ability levels. The heats will be broken down into 25 riders per heat with a total of 15 minutes to hit as many of the features as time allows. The top 3 of each heat will advance into a final 20-minute jam together with prizes awarded to the top 3 riders. Judging, by the pro’s will be based upon the rider’s style, creativity, attitude and consistency through a session style format.
At each stop, 1 rider will be awarded an all expense paid trip out to Winter Park, Colorado on April 7th to compete with the other 11 amateur qualifiers and the 12 professional riders hand-picked for the series finals. The cost is $20/rider, which includes a FREE Shred Circuit beanie from Firehouse & So-Gnar and lots of stickers. The contest is FREE for campers signed up for the Mighty Midwest Snowboard Camp Tour stop.
*Pat’s goal is to give back to his hometown community in Minnesota, and other small Midwest communities by making traditionally expensive snowboard camps and events available to local kids who have limited financial means or resources to attend. Based on the solid attendance, fun and growth within each community in the year’s past, we look forward to the tour’s expansion!
