NEED ADVICE ON BUYING GEAR

I've boarded three times and I've rented all three times. I freaking love snowboarding , but I've never felt like such a newbie with the retarded rental boards they gave me. I consider myself an intermediate rider and I would like to stick with a freeride board. I'm not much into tricks. I am going to Brekenridge/Vail in a couple months and I NEED MY OWN GEAR.

I've been looking at www.GearDirect.com. I don't want to spend too much money, but I want a good intermediate board that will last me a LONG time. I plan on getting really good on my new board.

I've been looking at this page...

http://www.geardirect.com/product_gallery.cfm/dept_id/235/store_id/2/mode/2/sort/A.sale_price%20DESC/startpos/13

That Atomic Alibi is the coolest board I have ever seen, but it's so darn expensive. Let's see...I've been considering the Ride Decade, Burton Air, Nitro Resistance, K2 Access (kinda ugly), Ride Control, and the Burton Cruzer. However, this store seems to have a lot of boards out of stock.

I am exactly 6 feet tall but I only weigh 140 lbs. I have a shoe size of 11, but I've used size 12 boots. What size should I get? 158-ish? Do I have to get a wide board? Does weight even matter all that much?

Boots and binding are a whole other story. I havn't really started thinking about that. I just had a friend tell me that Flow bindings are amazing.

I would REALLY appreciate your input!! Thank you!!

Have you seen the trading post yet???  There are brand new boards with bindings on there for $200 I think.  Check it out and ask at the park, there is a limited amount of boards so they will probably go fast.  Its one shizzle of a deal...

Yeah, I looked at it.

What adice do you have as far as what brand and models make great freeride boards for a non-ridiculous price?

Yes weight matters, its all about the flex, when you look at a board in the shop it has a curved shape, stand on it and the shape flattens out....on the snow same kid of deal, if you're too heavy for the board it'll curl up like a banana  if you're too light then the board's going to ride you.. (unless your're really strong and don't mind spending the whole time tensed up... alpine style) Longer board tend to be stiffer, so if you're light for your height go shorter (it'll help you spin too.)

If you're heading for Breck check out Mountain Sports Outlet in sliverthorne, this time of year they usually have some good deals. If you're ok with used gear Recyle in frisco has boards on consignement.

older flow bindings have a issues with forward lean (you can't ge any) but they say they've fixed that. They're pretty cool for simplicity, but you need to make sure your boot works with them, the upper needs to fit really well or you can get pressure point which lead to cramp.
