i am pretty new to the sport and have only used rentals before, i have heard about how weight is what really matters and not height, i weigh 195, but i am only 5'10" tall, i have seen charts sayin that for my weight i should be on anything from a 155 to a 163 but all the charts say different sizes, i would go feel the stiffness and llok at them but i have no shops around here so i will have to order online, my question is i am looking for a freestyle board what length is truly right for me at my weight? and does the fact that i'm only 5'10" make a difference?

I would say narrow your choices down to something in the high 150s. Being a beginer you want to give yourself a fighting chance to learn how a board feels to turn. High 150s will enable you to hold an edge on days you want to make turns and days you want jib or ride pipe. As far as flex goes get something in the middle of the road. The only thing that will really give you an answer on what type of board that is best for you is time on snow. You'll be able to try tricks, establish you riding style, and maybe even goto a shorter board for jibbin in the park exclusively or move into a halfpipe specific stick. You height does make a differnce on your choice. Your taller you've got leverage on your side. And your boot size to consider as well. Toe and heel drag are a big factor for me. I'm 6-4 220#(gaaaaloooot!)Be sure the waist(middle of the board) is wide enough so your feet won't be an issue. If you do find a board that you really really want but drag may be an issue I've found that the purchase of Palmer Plates(check out http://www.palmersnowboards.com/ look under PLS) open the doors to boards you weren't able to consider before. And there are a ton of wide boards made for the super stompers boots now. I always say above all make sure to look smokin hot out there!

i would stick with a short board that is pretty stiff. Try to take a day trip to your nearest board shop and just look at some boards then order it online

^ Fat or muscle doesn't matter he still weighs the same Eh nah it doesn't matter at all that you're 5'10. I'm with the bigugly guy (lol that sounds funny), something in the upper 150's for you should work. What size are your feet? Make sure you can fit the waist width too, if you have too big of feet you might need to go in to wider boards - which is fine, nothing wrong with that. There's something out there for everyone.

Oh oops I forgot you can't edit, but where do you live? There're a few shops near us like The Shred Shop in Skokie, Bad Boyz Toys in Orland Park, Viking Ski Shop in Chicago, etcetc. I'm just assuming you live around here because you're posting on here. :X If you don't totally ignore my post.
